MARPORT Caruso SF7
Multi-function Sounder
Marport's Caruso SF7 is an innovative, high performance, multi-function sounder that enables long-range detection of targets and currents. The system consists of a phased array transducer, a software defined transceiver and bridge computer. The sounder uses a broadband, multi-element phased array transducer. Every beam is fully stabilized and each beam can be steered forward, sideways and downwards. The new sounder can use military style CHIRP frequency modulation to provide very high definition to detect and display fish targets much closer to the bottom than conventional sounders.
STABILIZED SPLIT BEAM SOUNDER
Transmits on 81 individual 7 beams and receives in 16 quadrants. Target detection is determined by comparing the echo signals received by each quadrant.
Fish Size Assessment and Distribution. The system can detect the shape and size of fish, fish schools, and fish distribution with high discrimination and accuracy, using a histogram to display information.
Superior Detection Zone Coverage. The sounder provides superior detection zone coverage when compared to competitive products. For example, at a 500 metre depth, the sounder provides 100% constant coverage on a 500 by 500 metre seabed area. Conventional split beam sounders provide only 5% coverage of the same area.
Complete Beam Stabilization. An integrated motion sensor is provided to reduce the loss of important targets due to the ship's motion in rough seas. The beam stabilizer significantly improves target presentation by compensating echogram distortion.
Multiple Displays Including 3D A-Scope. Displays historical echograms with amplitudes proportional to intensity, and provides a wide variety of presentation modes on a high resolution display. Also displays inputs from Marport's complete line of wireless net sensors and sounders.
Advanced Signal Modulation. The sounder can utilize non-linear frequency modulation known as “CHIRP.” In commercial fishing applications, CHIRP modulation can significantly improve range resolution and enhance target discrimination.
DOPPLER CURRENT PROFILER
The doppler current profiler measures water current velocities over a wide range of depths, and can be easily interfaced to the vessel’s DGPS. The multiple beam phased array design provides a redundant data source in the case of a blocked or damaged beam. This also improves data quality and accuracy. Advanced digital signal processing (DSP) is used to deliver very low-noise data, resulting in unparalleled ?ne track resolution and accurate velocity profiles.
Long Range Transmission & Full Water Column Profiling. The profiler continuously measures and displays full water column profile velocities to depths 1,000 metres. Other displayed parameters include: current direction/speed, measured depth, ship speed, and more.
Speed Velocity Log. The integrated speed velocity log accurately determines the speed and direction of the ship.
Beam Stabilization. Electronic beam stabilization reduces the effects of rolling, pitching and heaving motions.
BROADBAND CHIRP ECHO SOUNDER
Utilizes CHIRP FM and digital signal processing to provide significantly improved range resolution and superior target discrimination. Software Defined Sonar enables digital signal processing to be performed in software which can be programmed “on-the-fly” to employ any frequency, bandwidth, or pulse length.
CHIRP creates a “signature” pulse. Using “pattern-matching” techniques, the sounder looks for its own unique signature being echoed back from the targets, resulting in longer transmissions and operating ranges without a loss of range resolution. CHIRP modulation achieves superior signal to noise gain, enabling enhanced target detection and discrimination.
A bottom tracking algorithm maintains bottom lock and delivers accurate depth even over the most difficult seabed topographies. The echosounder also incorporates a digital seabed classification system using techniques to characterize the seabed.
SUB BOTTOM PROFILER
The profiler can transmit a 30 kHz to 39 kHz pulse that is capable of penetrating the seabed and highlighting seismic structural differences and layers that are hidden from view to conventional echosounders. The system can also operate with various signal waveforms for optimum performance. The transmitted beam is electronically stabilized to ensure that the ensonified area is accurately positioned.
ADVANCED PHASED ARRAY TRANSDUCER
The transducer can be aimed to transmit multi-frequency, broadband, sound pulses through the water, providing a wide range of possibilities for electronic control of the beams around and below the vessel.
The CARUSO SF7 is an affordable, practical solution to the multiple needs of individual vessels, and is an essential product for maximizing profits and earning a better quality of catch.
